Job summary

American Society of Civil Engineers seeks a highly skilled civil engineer for the NYC Construction Safety Engineering unit. The role involves independent review of complex high-risk projects, field inspections, and coordination with multiple agencies to uphold NYC Construction Codes and safety standards.

The position requires a NYS PE license, a master's degree (or substitution), and strong communication with project teams. Remote work up to two days per week may be available.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of full-time civil engineering experience;
• Master's degree in Civil Engineering may substitute for one year of experience.
• NY State Professional Engineer license required and must be maintained during employment.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings and field submissions for high-risk projects across NYC.
• Perform audits of complex projects including foundations, excavation, and scaffolding submissions.
• Consult with project consultants/owners reps to review status and compliance with NYC codes.
• Issue summonses to design professionals and inspectors for code compliance.
• Perform forensic investigations and manage complex, high-profile construction incidents.
