Job summary

SAVI EHS is seeking a Senior Safety Director to lead safety operations across its Northern Virginia division in a direct-hire, full-time role. You will shape safety strategy, align with executive and field leadership, and drive accountability across large-scale programs.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of progressive construction safety experience.
• 5+ years managing safety teams and third-party consultants.
• Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local construction safety regulations.
• Experience overseeing multiple large-scale projects across multiple states.
• Strong executive, client, and field communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the division’s safety strategy, culture, policies, and long-term objectives.
• Partner with executive leadership, operations, project managers, superintendents, and field teams.
• Hire, mentor, and develop safety personnel while overseeing performance, succession planning, staffing, and project assignments.
• Direct safety performance across multiple large-scale projects and geographic locations.
• Establish and monitor KPIs, leading indicators, trends, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
• Lead serious incident and near-miss investigations, root-cause analyses, corrective actions, and regulatory reporting.
• Coordinate with Human Resources, Risk Management, and Insurance on workers’ compensation, claims management, and risk mitigation.
• Provide technical leadership for critical crane lifts, confined-space entry, electrical operations, and other high-risk construction activities.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, general contractors, trade partners, union representatives, and field leadership.
