SAVI EHS – Houston, TX (Regional | Construction Operations)

Compensation: $120,000 – $130,000 Annually

Position Overview

SAVI EHS is recruiting on behalf of our client for a direct-hire Safety Specialist III position based in Houston, Texas. This role will support multiple construction projects throughout the region by providing field safety oversight, conducting audits and inspections, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting a proactive safety culture among project teams and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote and reinforce a proactive safety culture across all assigned projects and operations.
  • Support project teams by providing field-level safety guidance and oversight.
  • Ensure contractor activities are properly planned for safety through scope reviews, preconstruction meetings, Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) reviews, Safe Task Analyses (STAs), and other pre-task planning processes.
  • Review contractor safety submittals to verify compliance with project requirements.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with site‑specific safety plans, OSHA regulations, and client expectations.
  • Conduct routine project safety audits, inspections, and field observations to identify hazards and verify corrective actions.
  • Utilize digital safety management platforms to monitor project safety performance and implementation of safety programs.
  • Provide safety training and coaching regarding OSHA requirements, client expectations, and industry best practices.
  • Investigate incidents, injuries, property damage events, and near misses, performing root‑cause analysis and assisting with corrective action implementation.
  • Ensure project teams have the appropriate safety equipment, resources, and support necessary to perform work safely.
  • Serve as a liaison regarding project safety matters and maintain communication with project stakeholders.
  • Maintain all safety‑related documentation, records, reports, and compliance tracking systems.
  • Track and report safety performance metrics while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Support project leadership in achieving safety objectives and maintaining compliance requirements.
  • Foster a positive, professional, and inclusive work environment.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of relevant construction safety experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 regulations and construction safety best practices.
  • Experience supporting multiple projects, regions, or business units preferred.
  • Experience conducting site inspections, audits, incident investigations, and corrective action management.
  • Ability to identify potential hazards and recommend practical risk mitigation strategies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with project teams, subcontractors, and client representatives.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and digital safety management systems.
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout the assigned region as needed.
  • Must be based in or willing to relocate to the Houston, Texas area.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • BCSP certification such as CHST, ASP, CSP, STSC, or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience supporting large-scale commercial, mission‑critical, industrial, manufacturing, healthcare, or infrastructure construction projects.
  • OSHA 30 Construction required; OSHA 510, OSHA 500, or additional advanced safety training preferred.
