Job summary

SAVI EHS is seeking a Senior Safety Director to lead safety operations across its Northern Virginia division in a direct-hire, full-time role. You will shape safety strategy, align with executive and field leadership, and drive accountability across large-scale programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead the division’s safety strategy, culture, policies, and long-term objectives.
• Partner with executive leadership, operations, project managers, superintendents, and field teams.
• Hire, mentor, and develop safety personnel while overseeing performance, succession planning, staffing, and project assignments.
• Direct safety performance across multiple large-scale projects and geographic locations.
• Establish and monitor KPIs, leading indicators, trends, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
• Lead serious incident and near-miss investigations, root-cause analyses, corrective actions, and regulatory reporting.
• Coordinate with Human Resources, Risk Management, and Insurance on workers’ compensation, claims management, and risk mitigation.
• Provide technical leadership for critical crane lifts, confined-space entry, electrical operations, and other high-risk construction activities.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, general contractors, trade partners, union representatives, and field leadership.

SAVI EHS is supporting a leading mechanical, electrical, and plumbing contractor in the confidential search for an accomplished Safety Director to lead safety operations across its Northern Virginia division.

This senior leadership position requires an experienced construction safety professional with a proven record of leading safety teams and large-scale, multi-project programs. The Safety Director will partner with executive, operational, and field leadership to strengthen safety strategy, develop personnel, drive accountability, and integrate safety throughout project planning and execution.

• $225,000–$230,000 annual base salary

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
• CSP, CHST, and OSHA 500 credentials required
• OSHA 10, OSHA 30, OSHA 40-hour, and CPR/First Aid training
• Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local construction safety regulations
• Experience overseeing multiple large-scale projects across multiple states
• Proven success hiring, mentoring, and leading safety professionals
• Experience working with union contractors and Collective Bargaining Agreements
• Strong executive, client, and field communication skills
• MEP, electrical, mechanical, mission-critical, data center, or similarly complex construction experience strongly preferred
• Ability to travel periodically to project locations
