Job summary

The LiRo Group in Bronx, NY is seeking a Construction Resident Engineer to oversee NYSDOT highway and bridge work. The RE will act as the on-site representative of the project management team, ensuring compliance with design specs, schedules, budgets, and safety standards, coordinating with contractors, consultants, clients, and regulators.

The ideal candidate has a NY PE license, 10+ years of construction supervision experience, and familiarity with NYC metropolitan area projects.

Qualifications

• NY Professional Engineer License required.
• NYSDOT or NYCDOT experience required.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in construction supervision, site engineering, or resident engineering.
• Familiarity with NYC metropolitan area projects and major highways/rail.
• Experience with NYCDEP, NYSDOT, NYCDEC, MTA, NYCDOT-OCMC.
• Proficiency in construction management software: Procore, Primavera P6, MS Project.
• Strong knowledge of construction codes, safety regulations and industry standards.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Act as the client’s on-site representative during construction.
• Monitor daily construction activities for quality assurance and compliance with specifications, codes, and standards.
• Coordinate with design engineers, contractors, inspectors, and program staff.
• Conduct regular site inspections and lead field meetings with stakeholders.
• Review and approve submittals, RFIs, change orders, and progress payments.
• Maintain documentation including daily reports, logs, as-builts, photographs, correspondence.
• Identify and mitigate construction-related risks; elevate critical issues when necessary.
• Enforce safety policies and procedures in accordance with OSHA and project requirements.
• Participate in project meetings and prepare status reports for senior management and client stakeholders.
• Ensure environmental, permitting, and regulatory compliance on-site.
• Contract Administration; work with Project Manager and Billing for invoicing and cost/schedule monitoring.
