Job summary

Insight Global in Austin, TX, seeks a Senior Construction Purchasing Agent to lead procurement, bidding, subcontractor engagement and cost controls for large commercial projects.

You will work with estimators and project teams to develop bid packages, solicit pricing, negotiate with subs/vendors, and ensure buys stay within budget.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in construction purchasing, procurement, or related fields.
• Experience with commercial GC or design-build contexts.
• Strong understanding of budgets, scopes, and scheduling.
• Experience with bid packages and subcontract agreements.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full procurement process from bidding through contract award.
• Develop and issue RFPs, RFQs, bid packages, and scopes of work.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor pricing.
• Negotiate pricing, scope, and contract terms.
• Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors and trade partners.
• Work closely with estimators to align procurement strategy with project budgets.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions.

Overview

Our client is seeking a Senior Construction Purchasing Agent to support large commercial construction projects by leading procurement, bidding, subcontractor engagement, and cost control efforts.

This individual will work closely with estimators, project managers, and construction teams to develop bid packages, solicit pricing, negotiate with subcontractors and vendors, and ensure projects are bought out within budget.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the full procurement process from bidding through contract award
• Develop and issue RFPs, RFQs, bid packages, and scopes of work
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor pricing
• Negotiate pricing, scope, and contract terms

Qualifications:

• 8+ years of construction purchasing, procurement, subcontract administration, preconstruction, estimating, or project management experience
• Experience working for a commercial General Contractor, Design-Build contractor, or similar construction organization
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scopes of work, and project budgets
• Experience negotiating subcontractor and vendor pricing
• Experience with bid packages, RFPs, RFQs, and subcontract agreements
• Proficiency with Procore or similar construction management software
