Job summary

Mortenson Construction is seeking a Project Manager in the Cedar Rapids area to lead project quality, timeliness, and safety, while mentoring the team and strengthening client relationships through exceptional service.

The role offers two levels (PM 1 and PM 2) with compensation based on experience and location. Travel up to 100% is required; base pay ranges are provided for the two levels, with office-location adjustments noted.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
• Current driver’s license and ability to travel up to 100%.
• Proven ability to fulfill responsibilities for complex projects.
• Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks.
• Basic understanding of construction law and business practices.
• Proficient in MS Office and project web tools.
• Able to interpret Mortenson policies and communicate them clearly.
• Strong listening and communication skills.
• Knowledge of EEO, inclusion, and affirmative action practices.

Responsibilities

• Manage overall financial health of projects including subcontracts and suppliers.
• Develop and maintain project financial projections and allocate estimates in the system.
• Determine cost codes, approve invoices, and provide financials to Accounting.
• Create monthly owner billings and handle contract management and buyouts.
• Oversee budget and select trade partners and suppliers.
• Lead and mentor Assistant Project Manager(s) and Project Engineer(s).
• Approve timecards and provide feedback on performance.
• Serve as main contact with owner and on-site representative; review owner agreement and resolve site concerns.
• Execute and manage change orders and seek approvals.
• Maintain schedule and budget; manage quality, risk, safety, and stakeholder relationships.
