Job summary

Grassi & Co., CPA's P.C is seeking a seasoned Construction Accountant to lead project accounting for major commercial projects. You will manage job costs, billings, and reconciliations across multiple departments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contract requirements.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in construction finance, expertise in CMiC or similar ERP systems, and strong Excel skills. In-person role in Elmont, NY with standard benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of construction accounting, project accounting, or related construction financial management experience.
• Proven experience on large-scale commercial construction projects valued at $100 million or more.
• Proficiency with CMiC, ProContractor, or other construction ERP systems; Procore preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily project accounting operations, including job cost coding and tracking, account reconciliations, and support for the project-level close process.
• Monitor project costs, billings, commitments, change orders, cost-to-complete forecasts, and projected profitability; identify financial risks.
• Prepare, manage, and reconcile monthly owner requisitions/payment applications; ensure contract compliance.
• Review subcontractor AIA G702/G703 payment applications; include percent complete, retainage, change orders, and prior payments.
• Monitor costs, commitments, billings, payments, accruals, and contract balances; reconcile discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate project cost reports, logs, and supporting documentation; track change orders.
• Ensure subcontractor billings and owner requisitions are supported and submitted on schedule.
