Job summary

Office of the County Engineer in Houston seeks a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Specialist to coordinate and oversee testing services for county projects. You will ensure compliance with ASTM, TxDOT, AASHTO, ISO, and Harris County specifications, and maintain documentation for audits.

Qualifications

• Must have working knowledge of ASTM and TxDOT test methods for soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and reinforcing steel.
• Ability to interpret construction plans, specifications and testing requirements.
• Strong organizational and communication skills to coordinate across teams and vendors.

Responsibilities

• Review field and laboratory reports for accuracy and compliance with standards.
• Monitor project budgets and prepare budget tracking reports.
• Coordinate with CMT firms on scheduling, performance and billing.
• Assist in training inspectors on testing procedures and related standards.
• Support investigations into material failures and participate in project meetings.
