Job summary

WSP in Durham, NC is seeking a Construction Materials Testing Team Lead to manage our inspection, testing and laboratory group. You will interface with Southeast and U.S. practice area leads, mentor staff, and drive quality, client service and project outcomes across challenging projects.

The role emphasizes leadership, technical depth in materials testing and geotechnical applications, and collaboration with clients and regulators to deliver results safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Geology or Business preferred, with measurable experience leading teams, projects and client development
• 10+ years of industry experience with leading teams, managing projects and knowledge of laboratory tests, field testing and special inspections
• Excellent organization, multi-tasking and client-facing skills
• Strong work ethic, ability to develop and maintain client relationships and contribute to proposals
• Proven track record of safety and adherence to health, safety, and harassment policies
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and strong communication skills

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a construction materials inspection, testing, and laboratory group.
• Interface with other practice area leads across the Southeast and the U.S.
• Support business development and strategic planning to increase market share in the local market.
• Recruit/hire staff and direct project staffing to meet client and business objectives.
• Ensure technical quality of deliverables and coordinate project teams.
• Provide guidance and leadership to junior team members and ensure QA/QC compliance.
• Interact with regulatory agencies, clients, and contractors in a professional manner.
• Manage financial, project management, backlog and utilization reporting requirements.
