Job summary

NexGen Contracting is seeking a Construction Layout Manager-Concrete Division to lead layout and field engineering across multiple projects. This senior role requires coordinating survey crews, ensuring accuracy, and integrating with safety and quality teams.

You will manage line and grade work, review drawings for coordination, and train crew members while traveling up to 75% to support assignments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent.
• 7+ years of field engineering or construction layout experience, including 3+ years leading a survey crew.
• Expert with survey equipment and Total Stations (Sokkia preferred; Leica, Topcon, Trimble).
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or BIM software, including extracting coordinates from drawings.
• Proficient in Bluebeam and Procore.
• Strong ability to read and interpret structural, architectural, and civil drawings.
• Strong problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills; able to manage diverse teams.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Must be able to travel up to 75% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Lead layout and field engineering across the assigned region, overseeing multiple crews.
• Perform line and grade work for building layout and control as required.
• Review drawings to ensure accuracy and tolerance.
• Coordinate drawings, specs, and shop drawings for proper installation.
• Identify and resolve drawing discrepancies prior to execution.
• Direct as-built documentation and training for proper as-builts.
• Prepare drawings to support change orders, RFIs, and submittals.
• Collaborate with safety, QA/QC, field operations, and project management.
