Job summary

Lake County Department of Utilities is seeking a Lead Engineering Construction Inspector to oversee site inspections, manage infrastructure improvement projects and monitor water and wastewater construction progress.

The role requires strong documentation, coordination with contractors and a focus on safety, quality, and timely delivery. Public works experience is preferred for this full-time position.

Qualifications

• Requires on-site inspection experience and ability to manage projects.
• Strong communication with contractors, consultants and customers.
• Maintain records, logs and daily progress reports while ensuring safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Provides on-site training to less experienced inspectors.
• Manages and completes the department's infrastructure improvement projects.
• Reviews contract documents, contract books, and payment applications.
• Creates change orders for improvement projects.
• Create and review contract quantities for improvement projects.
• Observes installation of sanitary sewer and water lines with proper materials and procedures.
• Records inspection observations for permanent record.
• Represents LCDU at construction meetings.
