Job summary

Carollo Engineers, a leading water-focused engineering firm in the Philadelphia area, is seeking an experienced Construction Inspector to oversee site inspections of water and wastewater facilities. The role emphasizes contract review, constructability assessments, and regulatory compliance.

The job requires 2–5 years of field inspection experience, strong record-keeping, and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of standard construction specifications, codes and standards.
• Understanding of soil compaction and density testing; concrete handling and curing.
• Familiarity with OSHA Construction Safety Orders.
• Ability to keep neat, accurate records; work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong oral and written communications; computer and internet skills.
• Completion of OSHA 10 hour safety course and related construction training.
• 2-5 years of responsible field inspection experience.

Responsibilities

• Inspects construction contracts for water and wastewater facilities.
• Reviews contract plans for constructability; notes errors and omissions.
• Schedules, plans, coordinates, and completes site inspections.
• Coordinates construction-related outages with client facilities.
• Prepares inspection reports and maintains a daily diary.
• Keeps project files, including photo records; tracks progress and as-builts.
• Prepares monthly estimates of construction completed.
• Maintains effective relationships with contractors, consultants, and owners.
• Oversees and mentors Junior Construction Inspectors.
