Job summary

MECO Engineering in Pittsfield, IL is seeking a Senior Construction Inspector to lead field inspections on water/wastewater infrastructure projects. The role oversees junior inspectors, ensuring compliance with plans, specs, and safety standards, with regular regional travel.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in civil construction inspection, strong knowledge of municipal utilities, and OSHA certifications. This on-site position offers competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on construction inspection experience.
• Strong knowledge of civil construction methods, industry standards, and local codes.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification (current).
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for site travel.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily on-site inspections to ensure compliance with plans and specs.
• Monitor contractor performance, methods, materials and workmanship.
• Document progress with reports, photos, measurements and test results.
• Lead and mentor junior inspectors and ensure adherence to standards.
• Coordinate field and lab testing of construction materials as required.
• Identify non-conforming work and assist in resolving issues with stakeholders.
• Enforce safety protocols and OSHA standards on-site.
• Communicate with project managers, engineers, and client representatives.
• Attend project meetings and review submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
