Job summary

Weston & Sampson, a 100% employee-owned engineering and environmental services firm based in Boston, seeks a Senior Resident Project Representative or Senior Construction Inspector. You will oversee utility/infrastructure construction in Greater Boston, supervise field staff, review schedules, assess activities, and coordinate with abutters, clients, and design engineers.

Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction, 10+ years of horizontal water/sewer/drain

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction related field.
• 10+ years of experience with horizontal construction of water/sewer/drain systems.
• Experience with general construction inspection policies, procedures, and administrative requirements.
• Knowledge interpreting contract documents, including safety regulations.
• Excellent public relations, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to maintain electronic field records efficiently and accurately.
• Ability to work well with contractors, municipal representatives, and residents/business owners.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Survey experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supervise subordinate consultant field staff.
• Review and evaluate Contractor’s work schedules and updates with the Project Manager.
• Assess current and near-term construction activities to identify and provide input on potential technical, schedule, budget, and communication challenges.
• Coordinate with abutters, the client, and office/design engineers.
• Assist the Project Manager and the client with negotiating claims for extra work/change orders.
• Attend regular site meetings
• Confirm the Contractor’s work complies with shop drawings, RFI’s, change orders and other agreed upon construction modifications
• Measure quantities of in-place work, observe quality of construction, and prepare daily records of construction work
• Record and report problems and failures to comply with contract documents.
• Maintain positive relationships with the client, municipal and utility owner representatives, and contractors.
• Some overtime may be required.
