Job summary

The Iowa Department of Transportation in Cherokee seeks a proactive Construction Technician Senior to guide a team inspecting and supporting long-term roadway construction projects. You will lead project inspections, material certification, and contract documentation for complex constructions.

Qualifications

• Possess and maintain a minimum of a Class C non-commercial Driver’s License.
• A pre-employment physical verifying the physical ability to perform the duties described.
• A pre-employment drug screen and ongoing random drug and alcohol testing programs.
• May be required to obtain pesticide/herbicide certifications or other certifications as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead project inspections and administrative operations with supervisor oversight.
• Ensure work is completed according to plans, specs and contract documents.
• Track and communicate project updates to diverse stakeholders.
• Serve as liaison with Iowa DOT staff, officials, contractors and the public.
• Maintain detailed records of vouchers, as-builts and progress reports with precise calculations.
