Job summary

The Iowa Department of Transportation seeks a Construction Technician Senior based in the Grimes Office to lead project inspections for highway construction. You will oversee multiple projects, perform quality control testing, document activities, and carry out survey duties in outdoor environments under the Resident Construction Engineer Office.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and maintenance staff as part of the construction services team on highway projects.
• Oversee multiple construction projects while supporting DOT’s mission and standards.
• Perform quality control testing, prepare reports, and document project activities.
• Complete survey duties and monitor materials such as aggregates, hot-mix asphalt, and Portland cement concrete.
• Carry out technical and related responsibilities within the Resident Construction Engineer Office.
• Serve as a lead worker with minimal supervision and coordinate with inspectors, contractors, suppliers, utilities, and local authorities.
