State of Iowa is seeking a Highway Technician Senior in the Construction Office to inspect, sample, test, and digitally document highway projects year-round. You will ensure work aligns with plans, specifications and contracts while coordinating with DOT staff, officials, contractors, and the public.

The role requires strong data entry skills and relevant certifications. Typical shift is 7:45 AM–4:30 PM with on-call duties and possible overnight travel; comprehensive benefits accompany the role.

Formación

• Graduation from high school, GED, or equivalent with highway-related work experience.
• Experience in highway maintenance, equipment operation, construction inspection, field work in engineering survey, or materials inspection/testing.
• Post-high-school education can substitute for experience per the listed rules.
• Ability to perform accurate mathematical calculations and data entry.

Responsabilidades

• Ensure work is completed per plans, specs, and contract documents.
• Liaise with Iowa DOT staff, officials, contractors, and the public.
• Maintain detailed project records, vouchers, as-builts, and progress reports.
• Operate snow and ice removal equipment during winter operations.
