Job summary

SIRIS LLC in Washington, DC is seeking a Senior Construction Inspector to support a Smithsonian expansion project at the National Air and Space Museum. The role focuses on mechanical, electrical and plumbing inspections, CPM scheduling, and reporting to the COTR.

Ideal candidates have 8–10 years of experience with GC or subs, strong QA/QC oversight, and proficiency in Blue Beam and Procore. On-site work in a federal project environment is required.

We are seeking a motivated Senior Mechanical Inspector to join our team at SIRIS to support an expansion project with the Smithsonian Institute at the National Air and Space Museum.

Responsibilities include:
  • Review and manage Critical Path Management (CPM) schedules for the multi-discipline construction project. Inform the COTR on construction progress and identify potential schedule delays.
  • Responds to logistic inquiries and resolves scheduling problems.
  • Monitors the construction activities of the general contractor, sub-contractors and consultants, providing detailed technical reports of such activities, taking necessary action to correct deficiencies and identifying areas of potential problems. Coordinate inspections for mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems to include high voltage, line voltage and low voltage.
  • Work closely with the COTR to communicate and coordinate access to existing building system. Coordinate shutdowns and service interruptions with OFMR. Coordinate system acceptance testing, punch list inspections and training.
  • Work closely with OPS to coordinate escorts as needed to access secure spaces.
  • Works closely with COTR to ensure that the contract specifications and plans are implemented accurately and efficiently in compliance with legal codes, regulatory requirements and meet engineering and technical standards.
  • Continually reviews engineering and technical specifications of the project to determine accuracy as compared to actual on-site conditions. In consultation with the COTR, takes corrective action as required, revising specifications or calculations and coordinating such. Monitoring work being performed and site conditions for compliance with safety and engineering.
  • Review statements of work for accuracy and completeness.
  • Provide contract administration services such as review of submittals, requests for information (RFI), value engineering proposals, correspondence preparation, etc.
  • Provide service to SI customers via telephone, e-mail and in person.
  • Other related services.
Required Qualifications:
  • 8-10 years’ experience with GC or Subcontractor performing mechanical inspections
  • Involved with coordinating and managing the installation on at least one large Federal project (over $40 million) is preferred.
  • Experience with installing or inspecting mechanical and electrical systems is mandatory. Familiarity with IBC, NFPA, NEC and various mechanical code requirements is essential. Primary responsibility will be for providing oversite for the Quality Assurance program.
  • Ability to assist with answering RFI and reviewing change order scope documents.
  • Great communication skills required and ability to work in a group environment.
  • Computer literate. Experience with Blue Beam and Procore a plus.

The pay range for this role is:
145,000 - 165,000 USD per year(National Air & Space Museum)
