Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Senior Construction Inspector to join our team in Southeast Michigan. The role requires field work across transportation, bridge, and municipal projects, with a focus on quality, safety, and schedule adherence.

You will review plans, monitor construction, and ensure contractors follow specs with daily site reporting. Ideal candidates bring 5+ years of highway/bridge inspection, certifications in soil erosion or MCA-ACI, and proficiency with AASHTOWare

Responsibilities

• Read and understand plans and specifications to determine information for inspection work items during and after construction.
• Monitor and inspect construction projects, including quality assurance.
• Ensure contractors follow the project plans and specifications in accordance with applicable construction procedures, methods, and codes.
• Track workers and equipment on project.
• Review testing reports (soils, aggregate, steel, concrete, HMA, masonry, etc.).
• Document the construction progress with site reports, photos, etc.
• Monitor construction schedule (Critical Path Method) to ensure project is on schedule.
• Facilitate communications between owners, contractors, and designers on a project.
• Obtain and maintain the required certifications for each project as needed (i.e., Traffic Control, Material Testing, EGLE Plan Review and Design, MCA-ACI) as well as complete client specific safety courses.

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking an experienced Senior Construction Inspector to join our team in Southeast Michigan! Candidates must be located in SE Michigan to perform field work.

Qualifications

• High School diploma/GED required; Associate degree in engineering technology preferred.
• 5+ years of construction engineering & inspection experience related to highways, roadways, and bridges required.
• Minimum certifications in soil erosion, MCA-ACI, HMA, and Density required.
• Prior knowledge/experience with AASHTOWare or other digital inspection platforms.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Knowledge of MDOT specifications is a plus.
• Experience with Bluebeam is a plus.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work outside in various weather conditions.
• Ability to climb a ladder and use a lift.
