Job summary

GPTech is seeking a Senior Construction Inspector to support inspection and QA/QC on Maryland-based projects. The role requires onsite presence, coordination with COR and contractors, and verification of compliance with plans, specs, and codes.

Ideal candidates have extensive Maryland QA experience, multi-trade oversight, and a strong background in energy infrastructure. U.S. citizenship and ability to pass a federal background check are required.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship with the ability to pass a federal background investigation/security clearance.
• 10+ years of experience in construction inspection/management/QA/QC.
• Extensive QA experience in the State of Maryland.
• Experience overseeing construction activities involving multiple trades and contracts.
• Experience serving as a client technical representative or similar role providing construction supervision/QA/QC oversight.
• Experience with large-scale energy infrastructure or industrial facilities.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local building codes and QC requirements.
• Experience reviewing construction schedules and progress.
• Experience using Procore for project management.
• Ability to analyze schedule updates and impacts.

Responsibilities

• Provide onsite construction inspection, QA/QC, and technical oversight throughout project execution.
• Monitor construction activities, materials, workmanship, and installed systems for compliance with contract documents, drawings, codes, and standards.
• Serve as a client technical representative and coordinate with the COR, contractors, engineers, and project stakeholders.
• Conduct field inspections, measurements, and testing; document deficiencies and corrective actions.
• Review contractor submittals, QC documentation, inspection records, invoices, and other project documentation.
• Review contractor schedule updates and verify progress against conditions; analyze schedule logic and constraints.
• Prepare and submit schedule compliance statements to the COR within three days of contractor billing submissions.
• Utilize Procore to maintain construction documentation, inspections, communications, and records.
• Monitor multiple trades and contracts, identify coordination issues, and support resolution of problems.
• Support construction meetings, claims analysis, field investigations, commissioning, punch lists, and closeout.
• Maintain accurate daily inspection reports, photographs, measurements, and other documentation.

About the Position:

GPTech is seeking an experienced Senior Construction Inspector (CI) to support construction and facilities projects in the State of Maryland. The Senior Construction Inspector will provide onsite construction inspection, quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC), technical oversight, and contract management support throughout project execution. The Senior Construction Inspector will serve as a client technical representative, working closely with the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR), contractors, project management teams, engineers, and other stakeholders to verify that construction activities comply with contract requirements, approved plans and specifications, applicable building codes, quality standards, and project schedules.

The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on construction QA experience in Maryland, strong knowledge of local trade capabilities, and experience of overseeing multiple trades and construction contracts. Experience with large-scale energy infrastructure, industrial facilities, and projects involving electrical, mechanical, or related systems is highly preferred.

This is a full-time, onsite position in Maryland for the duration of the project. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and be able to successfully pass a federal background investigation/security clearance.

• Utilize Procore to maintain construction documentation, inspections, communications, and project records.
• Monitor multiple trades and contracts, identify coordination issues, and support resolution of construction, technical, and schedule-related problems.
• Support construction meetings, claims analysis, field investigations, commissioning, punch lists, and project closeout.
• Maintain accurate daily inspection reports, photographs, measurements, and other required project documentation.

Minimum Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship with the ability to successfully pass a federal background investigation/security clearance.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in construction inspection, construction management, facilities contract management, quality control, or a related field.
• Extensive hands-on construction quality assurance (QA) experience in the State of Maryland.
• Experience overseeing construction activities involving multiple trades and contracts.
• Experience serving as a client technical representative or in a comparable role providing construction supervision and QA/QC oversight.
• Experience with large-scale energy infrastructure, industrial facilities, commercial construction, or projects involving electrical, mechanical, or related systems.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local building codes, construction standards, and quality control requirements.
• Demonstrated experience reviewing construction schedules and evaluating actual physical progress against contractor-reported progress.
• Demonstrated experience using Procore for construction/project management.
• Ability to analyze contractor schedule updates, including activity changes, logic modifications, constraints, float, deleted activities, and other schedule impacts.
• Current OSHA 10-Hour or OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification.
• license, ICC certification, or equivalent.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to prepare clear, accurate technical and inspection documentation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and construction management/project documentation systems.

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will also demonstrate several of the following:

• Professional Engineer (PE) license or registered Architect credential.
• ICC certification or other recognized construction inspection/code certification.
• Experience supporting federal construction or facilities programs.
• Experience with large-scale energy infrastructure or industrial facility projects.
• Experience with electrical, mechanical, HVAC, controls, or other building systems.
• Extensive knowledge of Maryland construction practices, local trade capabilities, and permitting/code requirements.
• Experience reviewing contractor pay applications and validating physical progress for billing.
