Senior Construction Inspector

Ranked #50 on Engineering News-Record's Top 500 Design Firms, we are seeking a Senior Construction Inspector for our Virginia Beach Construction Management Team.

Location: Culpeper, VA

Employment Type: Full-Time/Regular

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods to ensure compliance with legal requirements and safety regulations.
• Perform routine tests on concrete, soils, and other materials.
• Measure dimensions and verify levels, alignments, and elevations of structures, fixtures, grades, and pavements.
• Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance with plans, specifications, and standards.
• Assign and schedule inspection staff throughout all project phases.
• Draft project correspondence, facilitate meetings, and resolve field issues on behalf of the client.
• Maintain record documents, make field notes, and perform computations.
• Interact with the public, government agencies, contractors, and other stakeholders to respond to inquiries.

Qualifications

Required Skills

• Client-requested certifications.
• Strong computer proficiency.
• Active driver's license and successful completion of JMT's Motor Vehicle screening.

Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent; experience may substitute.
• 7+ years of roadway construction inspection experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associates or bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
• Supervisory experience in construction management/inspection.
• Ability to act as Owner's Agent or Responsible in Charge.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in the field, involving physical activities such as bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting objects up to 25 lbs. Conditions may include outdoor environments in heat, cold, wet, humid, or dry conditions.
