Senior Construction Inspector

Job Description

The Senior Construction Inspector will apply standard inspection procedures to ongoing construction activities, ensuring structural quality, safety, and conformance to plans, specifications, and codes.

Essential Responsibilities

1. Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods for compliance and safety.
2. Perform routine tests on materials such as concrete and soils.
3. Measure and verify dimensions, levels, alignments, and elevations of structures and pavements.
4. Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance.
5. Manage inspection staff throughout all project phases.
6. Draft correspondence, facilitate meetings, and resolve field issues on behalf of the client.
7. Maintain record documents, make field notes, and perform computations.
8. Interact with the public, government agencies, contractors, and other stakeholders.

Additional Responsibilities

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills

• Client requested certifications.
• Strong computer proficiency.
• Active driver's license and successful completion of JMT's Motor Vehicle screening.

Experience Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; experience may substitute.
• Minimum of 7 years of roadway construction inspection experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
• Supervisory experience in construction management/inspection.
• Ability to act as an Owner's Agent or Responsible in Charge.

Working Conditions

Work is field-based, involving physical activities such as bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting objects up to 25 lbs. Conditions may include exposure to heat, cold, wet, humid, and dry environments.
