CDM Smith is seeking an experienced estimator to prepare and analyze estimates for design/build, engineering, and construction management projects. You will review bids, coordinate take-offs, and guide junior staff in estimating procedures and software usage.

Travel of 20–40% is expected; high attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple estimates under tight deadlines are essential for success at CDM Smith.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control and material pricing.
• Reads and comprehends drawings and specifications and identifies missing elements during design development.
• Ability to perform conceptual estimates in multiple trades and review estimates in many trades.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepares design/build, engineer, construction management, guaranteed maximum price, and hard-bid estimates/proposals.
• Analyzes quotations prior to and on bid day.
• Evaluates bids of sub-contractors and suppliers for completeness of scope, delivery time and specifications.
• Enters quantity take-offs and material unit pricing for projects.
• Assists in coordination of overall corporate estimating functions.
• Performs additional duties as required.
