Job summary

Pogue Construction is seeking an experienced EHS Professional to oversee safety, health, and environmental policies across active construction projects in the Houston area. You will lead investigations, audits, and corrective actions to ensure zero incidents and regulatory compliance.

Role requires strong leadership, excellent written and verbal communication, and the ability to train staff and subcontractors on best safety practices.

Qualifications

• Ten years of safety experience or a combination of education and experience in commercial building construction.
• Bachelor's degree in Safety and Health or equivalent preferred.
• OSHA 30, First Aid, CPR, AED certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Oversees and makes decisions related to project safety, health, and environmental policies.
• Observes and stops work when there is an immediate danger to life, property, or environment on all projects.
• Work with Safety Director to recommend and implement corrective action based on policies, guidelines, and procedures.
• Provide leadership on active projects and build working relationships with project staff.
• Serve as site EHS Professional for all active projects and address EHS questions and improvements.
• Coordinate safety with Subcontractor Safety Reps to ensure compliance.
• Conduct EHS audits, report violations, and require immediate corrective action by subcontractors.
• Investigate and resolve EHS issues with project staff and subcontractors; communicate findings.
• Plan and deliver Safety Committee trainings for managers and employees on accident prevention.
• Enforce work practices in line with regulations and owner/contractual requirements.
• Educate staff on EHS guidelines and policies.
• Order sign packages for new projects.
• Ensure fire extinguishers, First Aid Kits, and AEDs are available on sites.
• Collaborate with third party Environmental Consultant for compliance.
• Maintain OSHA Injury and Illness records.
• Conduct scheduled and impromptu safety meetings.
