Job summary

Jobot in Long Beach, CA is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to lead accounting operations for a leading Civil Construction company. You will oversee billing, A/R/A/P/GL, cost and inventory accounting, and revenue recognition while coordinating budget preparation and forecasts.

Responsibilities include publishing timely monthly financial statements, owning treasury, ensuring GAAP compliance, performing month-end/year-end close, and managing tax filings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field.
• Experience as Assistant Controller or similar role for at least 5 years.
• Construction industry experience preferred.
• Proficiency with accounting software and Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables).

Responsibilities

• Assist CFO in managing all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
• Coordinate and direct the budget preparation, forecasts, and variances.
• Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
• Own treasury function and cash management.
• Research technical accounting issues for compliance and policy.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes.
• Ensure quality control over financial transactions and reporting.
• Manage local, state, and federal reporting and tax filings.
• Develop and document accounting policies to strengthen internal controls.
• Perform other controller duties as needed.
