Vaco's client, a growing heavy/civil construction company, seeks an experienced Controller to lead all accounting and financial operations, including reporting, job costing, payroll, and compliance.

The role partners with executive leadership, estimating, and project management to drive profitability, cash flow, and controls across multiple projects.

This is an on-site opportunity in Ohio with impact on infrastructure delivery and long-term growth.

Responsibilities

• Lead accounting operations including AP, AR, payroll, general ledger, and bank reconciliations
• Manage job costing, WIP reporting, change orders, and project profitability analysis
• Oversee monthly and annual financial reporting in accordance with GAAP
• Drive collections and ensure timely project billings
• Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and bonding capacity
• Coordinate audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance
• Oversee union payroll, prevailing wage, and certified payroll reporting
• Lead and develop the accounting team while improving processes and controls
