Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance is seeking an experienced claims professional for our Complex Construction Claims Team. The role focuses on high-exposure CGL and construction liability matters, with end-to-end ownership of cases, including coverage strategy, investigations, and coordination of outside counsel.

Ideally you will bring extensive experience with complex claims ($500K+) and strong negotiation skills, plus the ability to mentor others.

Qualifications

• Substantial hands-on experience handling complex litigated CGL and Construction Liability claims.
• Ability to obtain and maintain All-lines Adjuster license.
• Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of complex, litigated construction losses ($500K+) from assignment to resolution.
• Lead coverage interpretation and application for construction claims issues.
• Direct litigation strategy and manage discovery, pleadings, depositions, and settlement considerations.
• Coordinate Home-Office Legal, defense counsel, SIU, experts and other technical consultants for each matter.
• Select, supervise and evaluate outside counsel, including budgets and staffing plans.
• Set and adjust reserves and develop settlement strategies protecting company interests.
• Maintain complete file documentation and secure handling of claim information.
• Collaborate with Underwriting, Risk Control, Reinsurance/Excess and Subrogation teams to identify trends.
• Mentor and coach less-experienced claims professionals and contribute to training.
