Job summary

Venable LLP’s New York Real Estate Group seeks a mid-to-senior Construction Associate with at least five years of experience advising clients on construction projects.

The ideal candidate will have significant law firm experience representing owners and developers in all phases of construction of commercial and residential real estate. A strong drafting ability and NY Lien Law knowledge are essential. JD and NY bar in good standing are required.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Admitted to the New York Bar in good standing.
• At least five years in construction/real estate law.
• Experience drafting and negotiating construction agreements.
• Knowledge of NY Lien Law and related construction claims.

Responsibilities

• Advise owners and developers on construction projects.
• Draft and negotiate design, engineering, and construction agreements.
• Resolve construction disputes outside arbitration and litigation.
• Mentor junior associates and contribute to firm citizenship.
• Engage in client education initiatives and business development.
