Job summary

Valley Precision Grading, a TenCate company, is seeking a Senior Accountant with hands-on construction project accounting and cost accounting experience to maintain accurate financial records and support a timely month-end close.

You will work with the Controller and Project Accountants to manage journal entries, reconciliations, and WIP reporting, ensuring accurate job-cost data and clear adjustments as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Five or more years of progressive accounting experience.
• Hands-on construction project accounting experience, including job cost accounting and WIP schedules.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting fundamentals.
• Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, lookups and PivotTables.
• Experience with accounting/ERP software and ability to learn multiple systems.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to meet deadlines with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain recurring month-end journal entries, accruals and close schedules; ensure entries are recorded in the correct period.
• Prepare and reconcile general ledger, bank, credit card and balance sheet accounts; research discrepancies.
• Support monthly financial reporting, management schedules, variance analysis and year-end close activities.
• Prepare accurate WIP schedules using system and job-cost data; provide supporting detail for Controller review.
• Coordinate with Project Accountants on job-cost coding, project reconciliations, billing support and closeout activities.
• Provide audit support, maintain internal controls and assist with process improvements.
