Job summary

Syms Strategic Group, LLC is seeking a Senior Configuration Analyst - II to drive software configuration management and release engineering across VA projects. The role focuses on migrating VA applications to the cloud, building CM tools, and ensuring repeatable, compliant build and deployment processes.

The successful candidate will lead CM initiatives, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver high-quality software in a regulated federal environment.

Qualifications

• Proven track record delivering complex software builds/releases across multiple environments.
• Experience in federal or large regulated enterprises.
• Deep expertise in software configuration management and release engineering.
• Broad knowledge of development, QA, systems engineering, and DevOps.
• Experience with CM practices (identification, baselining, change control, status accounting).
• Experience with source control systems and branching/merging strategies.
• Experience with CI/CD tools and artifact repositories.
• Scripting for automation (Bash, PowerShell, Python).
• Managing COTS software, patches, and version control.
• Infrastructure as code and environment management (Ansible, Terraform).
• Knowledge of software quality standards, governance, and training developers on CM tools.

Responsibilities

• Support VA applications and migrate to the cloud.
• Develop and maintain CM tools for identification, control, reporting and delivery of software and COTS products.
• Perform CM and release tasks to ensure build parameters align with hardware configurations and are sustainable.
• Design, develop, automate, and maintain productivity tools to improve modeling and development.
• Design and implement build procedures for software product development and use.
• Develop software CM standards for company-wide use.
• Train developers in CM tools and quality standards.
• Provide technical guidance and solutions to complex problems.
• Operate autonomously and make sound decisions.
• Ensure compliant, repeatable build/deployment processes across projects.
• Collaborate with internal/external stakeholders.
• Lead and mentor junior analysts/engineers in CM best practices.
