Job summary

Amentum at Fort Meade, MD seeks a Lead Configuration Management Specialist to Establish and maintain robust baselines across hybrid environments. You will govern CMDBs, change control via CCBs, and compliance with NIST SP 800-53, STIGs, and IL5 baselines while coordinating with project teams for smooth transitions.

Join a mission-driven team supporting DISA and DoD IT infrastructure. Expect working in a SCIF and potential travel, with hands-on CM, audits, and metrics reporting to leadership.

Qualifications

• Fifteen (15) years of IT lifecycle management, systems engineering, or QA experience focusing on complex baselines.
• Seven (7) years in a dedicated CM role with leadership or management experience overseeing change control and baselines.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Systems Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Responsibilities

• Maintain configuration baselines across hybrid environments (physical, virtual, cloud, software pipelines).
• Manage CMDB in ServiceNow and ticketing in Jira/Confluence to track CIs and dependencies.
• Define and enforce CMPs, policies, and procedures aligned with ITIL, IEEE, and DoD requirements.
• Lead change management via CCBs, schedule changes, and minimize risk and ASIs.
• Ensure compliance with NIST SP 800-53, DISA STIGs, and IL5 requirements through audits.
• Track CM metrics, audit findings, and SLA compliance for leadership.
• Translate requirements into clear baselines and communicate risks to executives.
• Lead audits (PCAs/FCAs) to verify baselines match deployed states.
• Collaborate with PMs, Systems Engineers, and leads to transition new systems into baselines.
• Perform drift analysis and implement automated discovery/enforcement where possible.
• Establish RACI for configuration ownership and train staff on baselines.
• Lead site readiness reviews and produce BOMs for multisite deployments.
