Syms Strategic Group (SSG) seeks a Senior Configuration Engineer to lead software configuration management and release engineering for VA applications. This remote, US-based role requires cloud migration leadership and CM tool development across multiple environments, ensuring compliant builds and deployments.

The ideal candidate has deep CM knowledge, federal/regulated experience, and strong scripting/DevOps skills.

Qualifications

• Proven track record leading complex software builds/releases across environments.
• Experience in regulated/federal environments.
• Deep software CM, release engineering expertise.
• Broad knowledge of development, QA, systems engineering, and DevOps.
• Experience with CM practices (identification, baselining, change control, status accounting).
• Experience with CI/CD tools and artifact repos.
• Scripting for automation (Bash, PowerShell, Python).
• Experience with Infrastructure as code (Ansible, Terraform).
• Familiarity with CM tools and quality practices.

Responsibilities

• Support VA applications and lead cloud migration.
• Develop and maintain CM tools for identification, control, reporting, and delivery of software and COTS products.
• Perform CM and release tasks to ensure documentation and compliance with hardware configurations.
• Design, develop, automate, and maintain productivity tools for software modeling and development.
• Develop and implement build procedures to support product development and usage.
• Create software CM standards for company-wide use.
• Train developers in CM tools and quality practices.
• Provide technical guidance to complex problems.
• Operate autonomously and make sound decisions.
• Ensure compliant, repeatable build/deployment processes across projects.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead and train junior analysts/engineers in CM best practices.
