Baseline Contracting, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Concrete Finish Craftsman & Bridge Parapet Specialist to join our field operations in Coplay, PA.

You will own the final surface finish, texture, tolerance, and aesthetic across heavy civil projects such as bridge decks, parapets, and architectural concrete, applying master finishing techniques with hand tools and power trowels. Ideal candidates have 2+ years of professional finishing experience, deep knowledge of concrete mix behavior,

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of professional structural concrete finishing experience on commercial or civil projects.
• Elite proficiency with listed hand tools and power trowels.
• Deep understanding of concrete mix behavior, slump variations, set times, and weather effects on the finishing window.
• Valid Driver License with reliable transportation to Lehigh Valley job sites.

Responsibilities

• Surface Engineering & Craftsmanship: Finish fresh concrete surfaces to exact slope, grade, elevation, and cosmetic specs across decks, parapets, retaining structures, and flatwork.
• Fixed Formwork & Pour Supervision: Set, align, and secure forms; direct concrete placement, vibration consolidation, and initial screeding for void-free pours.
• Precision Tool & Joint Execution: Smooth, edge, groove, and saw-cut expansion joints in fresh concrete to prevent cracking and ensure durability under heavy traffic.
• Chemical Treatment & Curing: Apply curing compounds, sealers, and protective coatings per PennDOT specs.
• Equipment & Asset Maintenance: Oversee maintenance of finishing tools and power trowels.
• Quality & Safety Stewardship: Enforce safety standards, follow OSHA guidelines, and mentor crew on finishing techniques.

The Opportunity

Baseline Contracting, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Concrete Finish Craftsman & Bridge Parapet Specialist to join our premier Field Operations team based in Coplay, PA.

In this high-craftsmanship field role, you will take total ownership over the final structural surface finish, texture, tolerance, and aesthetic appeal of our heavy civil concrete installations. Working on signature PennDOT, Turnpike, bridge deck, retaining wall, and architectural concrete projects across Eastern Pennsylvania, you will apply master finishing techniques using hand tools, bull floats, and mechanical power trowels. If you bring 2 or more years of professional structural concrete finishing experience, deep knowledge of concrete mix behavior, and a desire to work on high-yield prevailing wage contracts with year-round stability, Baseline Contracting provides top-tier hourly pay, paid trade certifications, and a supportive field environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Surface Engineering & Craftsmanship: Expertly finish fresh concrete surfaces to exact slope, grade, elevation, and cosmetic specifications across bridge decks, parapet walls, retaining structures, and flatwork.
• Fixed Formwork & Pour Supervision: Set, align, and secure structural fixed forms; direct concrete placement, vibration consolidation, and initial screeding to ensure void-free pours.
• Precision Tool & Joint Execution: Smooth, edge, groove, and saw-cut expansion joints in fresh concrete to prevent cracking and ensure structural longevity under heavy traffic loads.
• Chemical Treatment & Curing: Apply chemical curing compounds, surface sealers, and protective coatings in strict compliance with PennDOT specs and engineering guidelines.
• Equipment & Asset Maintenance: Oversee the operation, cleaning, and preventative maintenance of finishing tools, power trowels, vibrating screeds, and edge floats.
• Quality & Safety Stewardship: Enforce jobsite safety standards, follow OSHA guidelines across active highway work zones, and mentor crew laborers on finishing techniques.

What You Need to Succeed (Qualifications)

Required

• Finishing Trade Tenure: Minimum 2 years of documented experience as a professional structural concrete finisher or cement mason on commercial or civil infrastructure projects.
• Tool Mastery: Elite proficiency with hand trowels, mag floats, bull floats, walking edgers, power trowels, vibrating screeds, and joint saws.
• Concrete Material Intelligence: Deep understanding of concrete mix behavior, slump variations, set times, and how changing weather conditions affect the finishing window.
• Physical Endurance: Capability to perform intensive, physically demanding outdoor trade labor in varying Pennsylvania weather conditions over extended shifts.
• Mobility Credentials: Valid Driver License with reliable personal transportation to travel punctually to regional job sites across the Lehigh Valley.

Preferred

• Specialized Infrastructure Background: Specific experience finishing PennDOT bridge decks, slipform/fixed-form parapet walls, or high-tolerance commercial slabs.
• Safety Certifications: Active OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour Construction Safety card or CPR/First Aid credentials.
