Baseline Contracting, Inc. is seeking a Heavy Civil Concrete Laborer & Structural Formwork Installer to join our Coplay, PA field operations. You will participate in concrete pours, formwork assembly, and 3D slipform tasks on bridge and highway projects, with year-round work and weekly pay.

Qualified candidates have 2+ years in heavy civil construction, reliable transport, and a safety-first mindset with interest in advanced slipform paving tech and ongoing trade training.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in heavy civil construction or structural concrete placement.
• Ability to perform active labor and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Reliable transportation to regional job sites across Lehigh Valley.
• Willingness to learn automated 3D slipform paving technology and follow safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Site Prep & Subgrade Compaction: excavate, rake, grade set, and compact subgrades.
• Formwork Assembly & Steel Reinforcement: assemble, square, level, brace forms; place rebar cages.
• Concrete Placement & Vibration: direct pours; use vibrators and screeds to consolidate concrete.
• Surface Curing & Finish Support: apply curing compounds, layout checks, finish to spec, joint cutting.
• Trade Equipment Operation: operate concrete saws, vibrators, trowels, compactors, handling equipment.
• Site Safety & Logistics Control: maintain hazard-free zones, tool maintenance, OSHA standards compliance.

The Opportunity

Baseline Contracting, Inc. is seeking a hardworking Heavy Civil Concrete Laborer & Structural Formwork Installer to join our Field Operations team based in Coplay, PA.

In this hands-on civil field role, you will participate directly in structural concrete pours, formwork assembly, subgrade compaction, and finishing operations across high-visibility bridge, highway, municipal, and PennDOT projects. Utilizing advanced structural masonry tools and 3D-capable slipform technology, you will build critical civil infrastructure—including retaining walls, bridge decks, slipform barriers, and water treatment structures. If you bring 2 or more years of concrete or heavy civil construction experience, a safety-first mindset, and a desire to build a career with access to high-yield prevailing wage contracts, Baseline Contracting provides steady year-round work, paid trade training, and clear paths to crew lead roles.

Key Responsibilities

• Site Prep & Subgrade Compaction: Execute excavation, raking, grade setting, and mechanical compaction of soil and aggregate subgrades using plate compactors and rollers.
• Formwork Assembly & Steel Reinforcement: Assemble, square, level, and brace heavy wood or metal structural forms; place, tie, and secure steel rebar cages and wire mesh reinforcement.
• Concrete Placement & Vibration: Direct concrete placement during live pours; utilize internal mechanical vibrators, screeds, and hand tools to properly consolidate and level raw material.
• Surface Curing & Finish Support: Apply chemical curing compounds, run layout controls, assist with surface finishing to target grade specs, and execute joint cutting.
• Trade Equipment Operation: Safely operate concrete saws, internal vibrators, power trowels, plate compactors, and basic material handling equipment on active job sites.
• Site Safety & Logistics Control: Maintain clean, hazard-free work zones, manage tool maintenance, enforce OSHA safety standards, and assist with material transport across regional project sites.

What You Need to Succeed (Qualifications)

Required

• Civil Concrete Tenure: Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in heavy civil construction, structural concrete placement, form setting, or highway masonry.
• Physical Endurance & Stamina: Physical capability to perform active labor, maneuver heavy materials (50 lbs), and work outdoors in varying Eastern Pennsylvania weather conditions over extended shifts.
• Reliable Transportation: Reliable personal transportation to travel punctually to regional job sites across the Lehigh Valley and surrounding areas.
• Safety-First Mindset: Strong commitment to job site safety guidelines, active listening skills, and willingness to learn automated 3D slipform paving technology.

Preferred

• Advanced Trade Competencies: Experience with automated 3D slipform concrete machinery, PennDOT project specifications, or structural form carpentry.
• Safety Certifications: Active OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety card or CPR/First Aid credentials.
• Commercial Driver Credentials: Valid Driver License or Commercial Driver License (CDL Class A or B) for driving support vehicles.
