Job summary

Virtasant is seeking a Senior Compute Engineer (Go + Kubernetes) to join our fully remote, globally distributed team. You’ll work across Golang ecosystems, read large codebases, and design patches while ensuring tests with standard Go libraries and testing frameworks including Ginkgo and Gomega.

You will dive into Kubernetes internals, deploy and scale applications, and collaborate with teams to optimize performance.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
14+ years of professional software development experience.
Proven experience with Kubernetes and container technologies.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Experience/knowledge of Java and the ability to read and understand code; Python/Java experience with Kubernetes is a plus.

Responsibilities

Develop, refactor, and patch large Golang codebases and write tests using standard Go libraries, Ginkgo and Gomega.
Troubleshoot applications using logs and profiling techniques.
Deploy, scale, and maintain applications on Kubernetes platforms.
Extensive knowledge of Docker and Linux container technology, including CGroups.
Develop database systems with PostgreSQL and monitor with Prometheus.
Develop API services and web/HTTP microservices in Golang.
