Job summary

Zoox is seeking a Staff Compute & Controls Systems Engineer in Advanced Hardware Engineering to define traceable computing requirements and lead safety analyses for compute platforms. You will work with hardware, software, safety, manufacturing, and test teams to ensure requirements are verifiable and aligned with ISO 26262 and other safety standards.

The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, documentation, and rigorous V&V planning, with a focus on high-assurance compute and autonomy

Qualifications

8+ years of staff-level experience in automotive/ADAS/autonomous vehicles or robotics.
Strong ability to craft clear, verifiable requirements for compute and controls systems.
Familiarity with compute architectures and high-speed signaling (I2C, UART, SPI, CAN, LIN, USB, GMSL, FPD-Link).
Experience with FMEDA or FMEA and ISO 26262/21448.

Responsibilities

Define traceable computing requirements from product goals and drive consensus across product and HW/SW teams.
Engage with cross-functional teams to author detailed requirements for compute and control modules.
Lead SFMEA/ safety analyses and ensure design decisions are verifiable.
Develop and review Verification & Validation plans for compute and controls systems.
Support RCA for safety-related compute platform field failures.
