Cadence Design Systems in Irvine, CA is seeking a Computational Structural Dynamicist to advance solver capabilities for automotive and aerospace needs. You will design, implement, and refine advanced structural dynamics algorithms in MSC Nastran, Cadence Design System’s flagship finite element program, and diagnose complex numerical issues in a large Fortran/C++ codebase.

Qualifications

• PhD in Aerospace, Mechanical, Applied Mechanics or Civil Engineering.
• Proven experience implementing and debugging algorithms inside a parallel FEM code.
• High proficiency in C++, FORTRAN, and Python with large codebases.
• Mastery of structural dynamics including transient and nonlinear analyses.
• Strong applied linear algebra for engineering mechanics.

Responsibilities

• Implement and optimize advanced structural dynamics capabilities in commercial FEA software.
• Work with Product Management to translate automotive/aerospace needs into robust designs.
• Apply high-level linear algebra to solve mechanics problems.
• Develop parallel code to ensure high-performance, bug-free execution.
• Diagnose, debug, and resolve numerical/algorithmic issues in a large codebase.
