Job summary

Cadence in Irvine, CA is seeking an expert Computational Structural Dynamicist to develop solver capabilities for automotive and aerospace industries. You will design, implement, and optimize advanced structural dynamics algorithms in a large Fortran/C++ codebase.

You will work with product management to translate requirements into robust software designs, apply high-level linear algebra, and push for high-performance computing across MPI/OpenMP and modern hardware.

Qualifications

• PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mechanics or Civil Engineering.
• Proven experience implementing, enhancing, and debugging algorithms inside a commercial-grade parallel finite element code.
• High proficiency in C++, FORTRAN and Python, with comfort navigating, refactoring, and fixing bugs in the codebase.
• Mastery of advanced structural dynamics: transient, modal, frequency-response, and nonlinear dynamics.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize advanced structural dynamics capabilities into a large FEA software.
• Collaborate with Product Management to translate automotive/aerospace requirements into robust software designs.
• Apply high-level linear algebra to solve engineering mechanics problems.
• Develop and optimize parallel code for high-performance execution on modern hardware.
• Diagnose, debug, and fix complex numerical and algorithmic issues in a production codebase.
