Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems seeks a Staff Computational Materials Scientist to advance physics-based modeling and ICME tools for materials used in SPARC/ARC tokamak devices. You will develop simulations, generate data, and drive cross-functional analyses to reduce uncertainty in materials performance under high temperature, radiation, and magnetic fields.

The role requires 10+ years in computational materials science, expertise in multiscale modeling, and strong coding skills.

Qualifications

• Background in materials science and/or physical chemistry with computational emphasis.
• Experience with modeling material behavior in extreme environments.

Responsibilities

• Use and build computational toolsets to predict material properties in extreme environments with uncertainty bounds.
• Identify features affecting performance and quantify relationships for engineering optimization.
• Inform design of experiments for materials under corrosion, stress, irradiation, magnetic/electric fields, and high temperature.
