Job summary

Johnson & Johnson in Spring House, PA seeks a Senior Scientist, Computational Biology- Oncology Translational Research to lead the analysis and integration of complex omics, biomarker, and clinical data. You will apply rigorous AI-enabled bioinformatics and machine-learning approaches to inform oncology clinical development while partnering with Translational Research Leaders and Regulatory teams.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics, Genomics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field, with 1-3 years of relevant pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in R, with experience in Python, Unix/Linux, shell scripting, version control, and reproducible analysis of high-throughput sequencing and multimodal omics data.
  • Demonstrated oncology translational or clinical-development experience, with strong knowledge of cancer biology, biomarker applications, and clinical-trial concepts.
  • Strong statistical and machine-learning experience, including regression, multivariate data analysis, survival analysis, supervised learning, semi-supervised learning, unsupervised learning, reinforcement learning for the analysis of biomarker, assay, and clinical data.
  • Ability to communicate complex analyses and their limitations clearly, collaborate across functions, and independently own defined study or biomarker-analysis workstreams.
  • Demonstrated scientific accomplishments through peer-reviewed publications and scientific presentations.

Responsibilities

  • Independently analyze multimodal oncology biomarker data and associated clinical outcomes, including DNA/RNA sequencing, flow cytometry, proteomics, single-cell and spatial transcriptomics data, applying cancer biology expertise, rigorous statistical and machine-learning methods to generate biologically and clinically relevant insight.
  • Integrate molecular, pathological, and clinical data to identify, validate and evaluate pharmacodynamic, prognostic, predictive, and resistance biomarkers.
  • Leverage computational evidence to support the development of translational strategies, using working knowledge of trial design, endpoints, and treatment response.
  • Use approved AI-enabled tools responsibly to accelerate analysis, coding, testing, and documentation while ensuring that all outputs are reviewed, validated, traceable, and reproducible.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional study and program teams; clearly communicate findings, uncertainty, and limitations; and contribute to publications, presentations, and evaluation of emerging computational and biomarker technologies.
