Job summary

Matrix PDM Engineering is seeking an Engineer III focused on Computational Analysis to perform advanced structural design and analysis for steel and concrete structures. The role uses finite element tools to analyze plates under varied loading, often leading discipline work on large projects.

You will apply first principles, collaborate with a team, and verify analyses with hand calculations as needed, while ensuring safety and quality standards in all work.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering required; MS degree preferred.
• 5+ years related engineering experience.
• Advanced knowledge of strength of materials, stress analysis and structural engineering is required.
• Design experience in API-620, API-650, API-653, and ASME Section VIII is strongly preferred.
• Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) of steel shell structures; exposure to thermal and dynamic loading is preferred.
• Experience with ANSYS APDL/Workbench or similar FEA software using a general-purpose programming approach.
• Working knowledge of MathCAD, AutoCAD, STAAD, and COMPASS/COMPRESS is preferred.
• Working knowledge of numerical methods of structural analysis and stress analysis is required.
• Experience with analysis verification and hand calculations is required.

Responsibilities

• Develops computer models from design drawings.
• Develops broad knowledge and skills in computational analysis.
• Applies engineering principles to solve problems for steel and concrete structures.
• Supports design efforts for atmospheric, refrigerated and cryogenic storage structures to API/ASME codes.
• Prepares analysis reports communicating methods and results to clients.
• Coordinates tasks with entry level engineers, designers, or staff.
• Performs design calculations and checks for constructability and safety.
• Assists in project scope, budget and schedule management.
