Job summary

Firefly Aerospace in Briggs, TX, production and test facility north of Cedar Park, manufactures aerospace-grade composite parts for the Alpha vehicle. You will perform hand lamination, bonding, curing, and vacuum bag processes to deliver flight-critical hardware to the line.

We seek an experienced composite technician with 8+ years in aerospace composites, strong problem-solving, mentoring skills, and proficiency with pneumatic and power tools and precision measurement.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of composite manufacturing experience (aerospace preferred).
• Advanced expertise in layup, bonding, and cure processes.
• Demonstrated ability to build flight-critical or high-complexity hardware.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and meticulous craftsmanship.
• Proficient with pneumatic tools, power tools, and precision measurement equipment.
• Experience in AS9100 or similarly regulated environment.
• Proven ability to mentor junior team members.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform all the steps in making aerospace grade composite parts, including but not limited to:
• - Cut carbon using hand tools to high tolerance
• - Perform bonding operations (abrade, clean, prep adhesives, etc)
• - Hand lamination of various materials including (carbon, glass, Kevlar, film adhesives and foam or metallic cores)
• - Perform full vacuum bag cure cycles from running instrumentation, debulking through monitoring oven runs
• - Cure materials per mfg. spec
• - Material handling pursuant to AS9100
• - Ability to identify scarf back plies (Scarfing)
• Support con-ops and tooling design meetings for future products
• Improve composite operations and product designs with engineering
• Constantly improve the fabrication operations and drive efficiency projects from the ground up
