A Day in the Life

This individual will be part of a corporate Global Trade Legal & Compliance team in the Global Operations and Supply Chain Legal Department, composed of lawyers and compliance professionals with expertise in global trade areas core to Medtronic’s business. Team members work across business units and geographies to advise on complex legal questions, identify legal issues, and contribute to policy decisions.

The Sr. Compliance Manager, Global Trade Legal & Compliance, will enhance our global trade compliance program, ensuring adherence to import regulations, export controls, and sanctions laws. Responsibilities include managing policies, procedures, training, and systems supporting global trade compliance.

This position can be based in Washington, D.C., Minneapolis, MN, or near a Medtronic site in the U.S. and reports to the Director of Global Trade Legal & Compliance.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement trade compliance programs ensuring compliance with import, export, and sanctions laws.
  2. Partner with supply chain and regional trade experts to manage risks and implement controls.
  3. Collaborate with compliance teams to execute trade compliance activities.
  4. Maintain current legal requirements related to trade compliance policies.
  5. Support litigation, investigations, and disclosures related to global trade.
  6. Work with internal stakeholders on risk assessment, auditing, and monitoring.
  7. Identify and mitigate global trade legal risks, sharing information across businesses.
  8. Assist with due diligence reviews in business development activities.
  9. Develop and deliver training on trade compliance requirements.
  10. Work collaboratively in a global, matrixed environment, demonstrating effective communication skills.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years in project/program management and global trade compliance in a large corporate setting, including 5+ years managerial experience, or an advanced degree with 5+ years’ experience and managerial experience.
Nice to Have
  • Experience in healthcare/medical devices.
  • Understanding of legal and business risks in the life sciences sector.
  • Experience with change management or process improvement (e.g., Lean Sigma).
  • Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong influence and communication skills with leadership.

Benefits & Compensation

Medtronic offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including health insurance, savings accounts, tuition assistance, incentive plans, and more. Salary ranges in the U.S. (excluding PR) are $144,000 - $216,000, with eligibility for incentive plans.
