Job summary

Veritas Partners in the DC area is seeking a Compliance Officer to lead regulatory compliance efforts in financial services. The role focuses on developing and overseeing a comprehensive training program to ensure laws and internal policies are followed across departments.

You will serve as the primary liaison for compliance exams and audits, drive remediation initiatives, and guide policy development while monitoring evolving regulations and industry standards.

Qualifications

• Five-ten years of related compliance, risk, and/or audit experience in the financial services industry.
• Must be US Citizen.
• Strong lending compliance/consumer protection knowledge including TILA, Reg Z, Fair Lending, ECOA, RESPA, FDCPA, UDAAP.
• Banking compliance experience is a must.
• Credit union/NCUA experience is highly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or related field; banking schooling or advanced degree preferred.
• Professional certification in compliance or auditing such as NCCO, CRCM, or CFE.
• Experience with Quality Control/Quality Assurance in a financial institution (deposits and lending).
• Experience drafting and reviewing compliance policies, procedures, training materials, and responses.

Responsibilities

• Develops and manages credit union wide compliance training program.
• Proactively manages and updates training to reflect changes in laws and regulations.
• Point of contact on all Compliance exams and audits.
• Facilitates remediation of audit findings by training staff to correct issues.
• Assists in vendor due diligence and special projects to evaluate risks.
• Evaluates impact of regulatory changes and informs stakeholders.
• Designs and coordinates policies, procedures, training materials and communications.
• Plans and assigns the annual compliance training plan for the CU.
• Drafts and reviews regulatory compliance policies for annual approval.
• Provides regulatory guidance to Lending, Retail Banking, Digital Banking, etc.
