Job summary

Sterling Technologies, Wixom, MI, is seeking a skilled Complex Wire Harness Builder for a hands-on, on-site role. You will build multi-branch harnesses from layouts, test them, and sign off paperwork before shipment.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in harness fabrication, read wiring diagrams, and can mentor newer builders while keeping a clean 5S work area. This is a full-time, daytime shift with competitive pay and benefits, in a ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 environment.

Qualifications

• Reads and works from wiring diagrams, harness drawings, schematics, BOMs and work instructions without supervision.
• Experience building wire harnesses or cable assemblies in production settings; multi-branch harnesses.
• Knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 requirements for crimps, solder joints, splices, strain relief and routing.
• Ability to identify wire colors accurately and work with small connector cavities.
• Reliable attendance and steady production pace.

Responsibilities

• Build complex wire harnesses and cable assemblies per harness drawings and BOMs.
• Lay out, route and bundle wires on harness boards to print dimensions.
• Crimp, solder, terminate wires from small signal to heavy power cable and apply protective wraps.
• Populate and seal connectors, verify locks and cavities.
• Operate crimp presses, wire strippers, and other semi-automatic equipment; test first pieces.
• Run tests for continuity and insulation; troubleshoot failures from schematics.
• Inspect harnesses to IPC/WHMA-A-620 and customer requirements; complete paperwork.
• Coaching newer builders and identifying drawing or process issues for engineering.
