Job summary

Chevron's El Segundo Refinery seeks a Complex Facility Process Engineer to act as a local technical expert and mentor for early-career engineers. You will drive complex process initiatives, optimize refinery operations, and support management of change with data-driven decisions.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, optimization, and leading cross-refinery investigations, with flexibility for off-hours support as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering.
• Minimum of 10 years in Oil & Gas downstream refining industry.
• Technically competent in mass transfer/distillation, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, process control, and kinetics.
• Experience participating in studies such as PHA, IPR/ROI, LOPA.
• Strong communication and coaching skills.
• Proactive with ability to work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Provide process troubleshooting support and develop process engineering procedures.
• Mentor unit process engineers and serve as SME for early-career engineers.
• Lead and steward complex process initiatives to meet refinery objectives.
• Apply economic metrics (NPV, DPI, ROR, ROCE, VOI) to prioritize work.
• Advise on tests to optimize process variables and plant performance.
• Champion new technologies to improve profitability and reliability.
• Support planned unit turnarounds and off-hours engineering needs.
• Contribute to management of change, SOPs, and process safety information.
