Job summary

Frey Consulting Group seeks an experienced refinery engineer in the United States to monitor and advise on refinery operations, support planning, and train technical staff. The role includes reviewing designs, implementing changes, and leading troubleshooting with Operations and Engineering teams.

The ideal candidate has a BS in engineering and 8+ years in refinery/petrochemical environments, plus strong leadership and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in engineering from an accredited college.
• Eight or more years of refinery/petrochemical experience with process knowledge.
• Proven experience in refinery planning or process equipment design.
• Leadership in improving income and reducing costs.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and lead cross-functional teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication; capable of leading trainings.

Responsibilities

• Monitor assigned areas and advise management and engineering of issues.
• Advise technical staff and assist in planning and troubleshooting.
• Assist in training of technical, management, and hourly personnel.
• Provide technical review of designs, MOC’s, and change orders.
• Troubleshoot refinery problems and collaborate with Operations to get full context.
• Identify refinery changes to improve safety, reliability, profitability, and compliance.
• Scope and develop process design for refinery projects and obtain support/funding.
• Assist commissioning and troubleshooting of major unit changes.
• Support long-range functions such as PSM programs and procedures.
• Provide senior technical advisory support to management and other departments.
