Job summary

The Complex Claims Specialist at Hiscox is a senior level individual contributor based in the US, with hybrid work options requiring in-office attendance at least two days per week for near-office candidates, or remote eligibility for qualified applicants.

Key duties include strategizing early settlements for complex GL/Bodily Injury claims, drafting coverage analyses, and leading defense counsel in litigation while maintaining strong collaboration with insureds and brokers.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of claims handling experience within General Liability & Bodily Injury.
• Proven ability to positively affect high-severity claims outcomes through investigation, negotiation and leading litigation.
• Expert knowledge of coverage within the team’s specialty or focus.
• Advanced knowledge of litigation process and negotiation skills.
• Mentoring others with demonstrated success.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical capabilities.
• BA/BS degree preferred; JD is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Strategize and maximize early settlement opportunities for Construction Defect and 3rd Party Property Damage Claims.
• Draft and Review coverage analyses.
• Manage/Partner with local defense counsel while monitoring litigation.
• Drive litigation best practices to manage deployment and utilization of defense counsel.
• Continually assess exposures and adequacy of claim reserves.
• Attend mediations and settlement conferences when appropriate.
• Identify suspected fraudulent claims and coordinate with special investigations unit.
• Liaise daily with insureds and brokers to keep senior claims management informed.
