Job summary

Amtrust Financial Services seeks a Complex Claim Specialist to handle professional liability claims, with emphasis on legal malpractice. This role can be located in one of our claims offices with the possibility of working remotely.

You will evaluate coverage, manage litigation, negotiate, ensure proper reserves, and coordinate with counsel. A JD/CPCU/RPLU is preferred; expected salary range is $120K-$175K per year. This position requires travel for mediations and trials as needed.

Qualifications

• Seven+ years of professional liability claims experience.
• Proficient computer skills for paperless claim file systems.
• High level of technical claim skills and legal knowledge.
• Excellent written and oral communication.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
• Effective influence without harming relationships.
• Skilled negotiator.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• JD / CPCU / RPLU designation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Recognize exposures and ensure reserves are appropriate and timely.
• Evaluate coverage issues and identify risk transfer opportunities.
• Conduct independent investigations using available resources.
• Manage litigation with proper planning, budgeting and counsel collaboration.
• Negotiate settlements with strong negotiation skills.
• Communicate exposures internally and externally.
• Develop and implement resolution strategies for best outcomes.
• Travel periodically to mediations, trials, and related meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
